How Much Does a Paleta Cart Cost? A 2026 Price Guide

A new paleta cart costs roughly $650 to $2,200, depending on its size, wheels, doors and finish. A compact cart for parties sits at the low end. A full-size street cart with bicycle tires, fenders or glass doors sits at the top. Other cart makers list new commercial paleta carts from about $1,000, with tricycle models reaching about $3,500.

What makes one paleta cart cost more than another

Size and capacity

The insulated box decides how many paletas you can carry: up to 50 in a baby cart, 200 in a small cart and 400 in a standard or tall cart. A bigger box costs more, but it also means fewer trips back to the freezer on a busy day. Our size guide compares them side by side.

Wheels

Thick tires are fine for smooth floors and short pushes. Bicycle tires roll more easily over curbs, grass and gravel when you sell outdoors, and our full-size carts with bicycle tires use 20-inch wheels with a swivel caster at the front.

Doors, openings and fenders

A standard cart has a center door about 14 inches wide. Carts with an XL door open about 25 inches wide, so you can load and reach tubs more easily. Some models have three top openings, and our tall glass-door carts put the paletas on display behind tempered glass, which helps with impulse buys. Fenders over the wheels add a finished look and protect the cart from splashes.

Trim and color

Chrome trim, painted white or gold trim over stainless steel, and colors such as pink or mint change the price a little. Custom colors and your own logo are quoted separately.

Costs to budget for besides the cart

• Keeping it cold. Carts don’t plug in. You’ll use either reusable cold plates ($239.99 for the set of two a standard cart needs) or dry ice, which you buy for each selling day. Our guide to cold plates vs. dry ice explains the difference.
• Freight shipping. Carts travel by freight truck, and the cost depends on your address. Delivery to a home, or to a business without a loading dock, may need a liftgate truck.
• Your license. In Texas, carts now need a statewide mobile food vendor license from the Department of State Health Services. For vendors of prepackaged ice cream, the application fee is $309. Read our Texas permit guide for the details.
• Bells and shade. A set of three chrome bells is $99.95, and an umbrella keeps you and your cart in the shade.
• Your first paletas. Plan for a full cart of stock before your first day out.
• Insurance. Many events and venues ask vendors for proof of liability insurance.

Should you buy new or used?

A used cart can save money, but check it carefully first. Look for cracks in the insulated box, lids and doors that close tight, and wheels and axles that roll straight. Ask how it was kept cold, and make sure a cart sold as “no electricity needed” really is fully insulated. A new cart from us comes with our warranty and arrives ready to sell.

Ours don’t. They’re insulated boxes kept cold with cold plates or dry ice, so you can sell anywhere, with no generator or outlet.

How many paletas fit in a paleta cart?

Our standard and tall carts hold up to 400 popsicles or three 3-gallon tubs. Small carts hold up to 200, and baby carts up to 50.

Can I get my own colors or logo on the cart?
